Laxapana is 130 kilometers from Colombo, capital of the country and by road a 4 �?5 hour travel.
The main route on road from the capital is via Avissawella, Yatiyantota, Gingathena, Norton Bridge or from Ginigathena, via Hatton through Maskeliya or by train to Hatton and then through Maskeliya.
The estate has large flat area turned into a play ground, to facilitate landing helicopters, thus an Ariel route to reach Laxapana Estate in less than a hour.
The travel either by road or rail will never be boring, as it gives a traveler many scenic and refreshing views throughout the travel, the busy city and its outskirts, then the low lying areas with paddy fields, white cranes preying in waterlogged grounds, coconut palms, never ending sight of verities of banana trees, rubber plantations, slow flowing rivers, and as the course changes into hilly terrain, cascading river nestling along side the road under the shade of canopy of rubber, coconut and other trees and on further assenting, breath taking valleys and, mountainous ranges covered with tea plantations and several glittering water falls in the hills . At Kitulgala, a Boat Drifting could be enjoyed in cascading waters of river Kelani.
